Kappad beach in
Kerala is a picturesque
tranquil beach destination in India, strewn with country fishing boats, lies
in pristine beauty. The shore, deprived of concrete monstrosities, is in
splendid silence.
The Kappad Beach where Vasco Da Gama carved the way for the European
connection in the year 1498, is one of the brilliant studs of the Indian
crown.
The lovely, calm beach, locally known as Kappakadavu, is dotted with rocks
and embraced by friendly waves coming to & fro the sea. An interesting
feature of the landscape is the extensive rock that extends into the sea.
The temple on the rock is believed to be 800 years old. The sea here is calm
and noticeably untouched by history or time. To the tourist it is one of the
most charming of Kerala's beaches.

Airlines
: Karipur International Airport, Kozhikode about 23 km from Kozhikode
town. From here you cam fetch a bus to the beach.
Rail Lines : Kozhikode railhead is about 16 km from the
beach. One can easily reach the beach by bus or taxi.
Bus Lines : The beach is well connected to Kozhikode
(Calicut). It is also linked to all the major cities of
Kerala.

Charming Spots near the Kappad Beach
Rock Fornations
The various rock formation in varied shapes and size dotting the beach
location are the most interesting sites at Kappad.
The Temple on the Rock
This temple situated on the rock (extended into the sea) is one of the
charms located at the Kappad beach. The temple is believed to be 800 years
old.
A Pillar
Vasco Da Gama, a Portuguese explorer landed on the Kappad beach with 170
men in three vessels on 27th of May, 1498. A solitary pillar commemorates
the event with the inscription, "Vasco da Gama landed here,
Kappakadavu, in the year 1498".
Korapuzha river
This river is truly an alluring site to be seen by the visitors from all
around. The two streams Punnurpuzha and Agalapuzha, join to form the
Korapuzha river, which, along with its main tributaries, is tidal in their
lower reaches. The latter of the two can well spin off as a backwater, while
the former claims its existence from Arikkankunnu. The river forms the
connecting point of all the important industrial towns like the Vadakara,
Kozhikode, Kallai, Beypore. The river measures 40 kms in length and covers
an area of 624 sq. kms.
Oceanic Activities
You can try your hand in fishing and swimming. Korapuzha river near the
beach is a well spin off as a backwater. Or you can just stroll by the
seaside or laze under the sun.
