Situated at the mouth of the Chaliyar River in Kozhikode (Calicut)
district, Beypore, one of the major ports and fishing harbours of ancient
Kerala was a major trade and maritime centre.

nearly 2 km into the sea. It is actually made up of huge stones heaped
together for nearly 2 km making a passageway into the sea.
Ancient Beypore was much visited by merchants from Western Asia, for its
ship building industry. The boat building yard here is famous for the
construction of the Uru, the traditional Arabian trading vessel.

Mananchira (Calicut), which was the palace tank of King Mana Vikrama, has
been now turned into a traditional architectural splendor with carpeted
green grass and surrounded by ethnic buildings. The place also has a musical
fountain.
Muchunthi Palli
A 13th century Vattezhuthu inscribed on a stone slab can be seen in this
mosque. this is the oldest of the three mosques existing at Kuttichira, in
Kozhikode town. The inscription narrates the donation of the property to the
mosque by a Zamorine. This mosque too is built in the traditional
Kerala architectural style.
Kozhikode (Calicut) Beach
This beach is a favourite haunt of sunset viewers. Adding to its natural
beauty is the old world charm retained in the old lighthouse and the two
crumbling piers, each more than a hundred years old, that run into the sea.
