Colva beach in Goa is one beach which is usually less crowded. There are many shacks lined up along the Colva beach which offers you delicious Goan cuisine to be washed down by innovative cock-tails.

Sit in one of those shack, savour the mouth-watering food while looking at the vast sea in front of you.

Though there are eating joints and hotels around Colva, the Colva beach still manages to keep its serenity in tact. Unlike Anjuna or Calangute, Colva beach in Goa gained popularity only lately. Over the years, many hotels and buildings have sprung from nowhere in and around these beaches in Goa. Colva beach is one of those beaches in this small Indian state of Goa that is developing at a very good pace.

Charming Spots near Colva
Nossa Senhora de Merces (Our Lady of Mercy) Church
Apart from the beach, you can also visit the Nossa Senhora de Merces (Our Lady of Mercy) Church. This church is famous for its annual religious event-Fama of Menino Jesuse (Child Jesus)-since the 17th century. The predominantly Catholic community celebrates it on the third Monday of October every year. It is one of Goa's most popular feasts and a big fair is held on the occasion.

Benaulim Beach
About 2 km away from Colva beach is the Benaulim beach, which is more peaceful and serene than the Colva beach. Benaulim provides an escape to see nature in its full bounty with few tourists to disturb its peace. One can still see spot old Portuguese houses.

The Bullfight
From early October to late May, from 4 pm onwards, one can see the bull fights at Benaulim. On the beat of taped Konkani music, the bullfights are usually held in an old rice field with no fences or barricades just outside a village.

Oceanic Activities
Go for swimming or take a sun-bath on the golden sand of the shore. Take a stroll on the beach side and see bangdde (mackerels) shimmering on the golden sands for drying. Fishermen’s motor trawlers can be seen anchored in a line offshore. Make your evening more romantic with the drinks from the nearby drinks stalls.
