The Sport
Indias coastline, include the states of
Goa,
Gujarat,
Maharashtra,
Karnataka,
Kerala,
Tamil Nadu,
Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and
Orissa. All these states have some of the
best beaches in the world. Few are fairly famous like the Beach Paradise -
Goa. There are, obviously, lots of other pretty little beaches along the
coasts with plenty of potential for para-sailing and wind-surfing.
On the whole, the western coast is more suitable for water sports than the
eastern coast, as the waters of the Arabian Sea tend to be calmer than those
of the Bay of Bengal.
Best Time for the Water Sports
All of Indias coastal areas- whether on the mainland or in the
islands- lie in the tropical zone. Summers are hot and humid, and monsoons
can be depressingly grey; the best time to visit, therefore, is in the
winter. November to April is when the weathers at its best.
Some of the Opportunities for Wind-surfing & Para-sailing :
Goa
The most comprehensive beach resort in the country. Goas coastline
provides endless sun drenched sand, lined by coconut palm trees.
Vagator,
Anjuna,
Baga,
Calangute and
Candolim stretch out in an
unbroken palm fringed line. Other beaches are at Miramar and Colva. Almost
all the beaches provides an opportunity for para-sailing and wind-surfing.
Goa offers an immense facility for these sports.
Lakshadweep Islands
Lakshadweep offers excellent wind surfing opportunity in the crystal clear
waters, which surround the islands. Among the most popular sites for water
sports in the Lakshadweep Islands are Bangaram (the only island accessible
to foreigners) and Kadmat. Both have extensive facilities for
wind-surfing &
para-sailing.
